Thanks to Elizabeth K for photos of the Chief Kwina on NextDoor Lummi Island (anyone with LI address can join).
Ed S responded to Elizabeth’s photos with a link to this 2007 Klipsun story about the ferry vessel Carlisle II, which served Lummi Island needs for many years. In 2007, it turned 90 yrs old and was still transporting passengers in Puget Sound.
Guess that not all ferries are rustbuckets doomed to sink after 40-50 yrs –perhaps only those that aren’t properly maintained and refurbished when needed? 😉
