Gooseberry Security, Dry Dock, Ferry Budget, LIFAC

The PLIC Board updated community members on a range of top-priority ferry issues at the PLIC meeting last Tuesday night.  Major  topics included the fast-approaching deadline  for the 2013 fiscal year ferry budget, the County’s new Lummi Island Ferry Advisory Committee (LIFAC) activities, security at Gooseberry Point, fares, dry dock concerns (especially many fewer parking spaces, ~ 1/3 to 1/2 compared to last year) and possible roles for PLIC in the coming months. Each topic was discussed thoughtfully and vigorously by those present.

Seven possible ways to deals with the much-reduced dry dock parking were listed by Dave Wing (see PLIC Meeting minutes 2012-05-29 for the list). He noted that unlike last year, there is essentially no chance that parking will be expanded at the last minute. Volunteers are needed to evaluate these and other ideas, and help implement ideas that are feasible. Contact Dave or other PLIC Board members to learn how to help.
