Lease Agreement moves toward public hearing & vote

I found this about the Gooseberry Pt lease in the minutes from last night’s County Council minutes. (To be automatically emailed all Council minutes and notices, email Jill Nixon at jnixon@co.whatcom.wa.us and let her know you want to be added to the list.)

From:  2011-06-24 County Council Minutes

Discussion with Assistant Chief Deputy Prosecutor Daniel Gibson regarding ferry issues (AB2011-018)
AB2011-018    Reported.

Council to Introduce Lease Agreement 7/12/11. Public Hearing on 7/26/11.

I presume that this means that at least after 7/12/11, the lease will no longer be in the “Top Secret For Their Eyes Only” category.

Because the lease agreement will be introduced on 7/12/11, the Council can vote on it on as early as 7/26/11 — the same night as the public hearing.

The current council has voted on other key legislation with long-term consequences to the County on the same night as the (only) public hearing on the specific ordinance up for consideration (most recently, passage of their rural land use changes to the comprehensive plan). So it is quite possible they will vote on the Gooseberry Pt lease agreement on 7/26/2011.
