Another Herald article. Hardly surprising the BIA is supporting the Lummi Nation – that’s their job.
Voiding the lease should mean, if there is any justice or meaning to declaring the lease null and void, that the entire 1988 lease is null and void — shouldn’t it?
Sunday AM meditation: I just re-read Swil Kanim’s “The Elements of Honor” and was struck again by the last paragraph and especially the conclusion at a conference of Nation American leaders that concluded, “The hurt of one is the hurt of all. The honor of one is the honor of all.”
Seems to me that we’re all, all — our County government Lummi Nation, Lummi Islanders and other Whatcom County residents are currently mired horribly deeply in the first sentence, “The hurt of one is the hurt of all.” How I wish we could find a way to move on to the second part, “The honor of one is the honor of all,”instead of staying within the circle of hurt.
