B’Herald says: Send your stories about ‘losing Gooseberry Pt’

Paul Davis said that John Stark of the Bellingham Herald) is looking for personal stories of what losing our historical access to the mainland via Gooseberry Pt would mean to our lives.   Since the Herald won’t be able to publish everything submitted, please co-submit your story here to the Ferry Forum. Feel free to dust off all those stories you wrote a year ago, too. I remember hearing that ‘over 100 stories’ were sent to PLIC, or at least that PR person they hired back then.  Maybe those could be used again, whether posted on the PLIC site, here, the Herald, in other county newspapers  — clearly they are still relevant.

John Stark’s request, via Paul:

>Reporter John Stark of the Bellingham Herald is looking for stories from Lummi Island residents about how the loss of the ferry run to Gooseberry Point would affect their lives.  Areas you might cover are:
>* Access to work
>* Financially abandoning home in a climate of no market value
>* Access to medical facilities
>* Access to school
>* Shopping for food, fuel, supplies
>* Personal hardships
>* Trying to live a normal life
> * You name it

>Send your story to John Starks:  Phone 715-2274  e-mail:  john.starks@bellinghamherald.com
