Barbara Brenner, County Council, sent us the following update from the 8/10/10 Executive Session:
The Whatcom County Council voted to send a public letter to Mr. Henry Cagey, president of the tribal council, re-emphasizing offers the county has made to the tribe and indicating our continued desire to find a reasonable compromise, one that is affordable for the county and our island residents.
The council would also like to come out to Lummi Island some time shortly after sending the letter, which will hopefully be sent by Thursday. So next week may work. We need to arrange the best time and day for council members, Executive Kremen, and his staff to be present.
Thank you for your patience during this very difficult time. I am sorry for the unnecessary pain you have suffered.
