From Mike McKenzie, via Facebook:
Long conversation with Public Works Director Frank Abart: He will make a three-tiered presentation during the daytime, regularly-scheduled meeting of PW and Council members on Nov. 22 about the status of finances. This has been scheduled for some time, he said; he has not heard from any Council member re: the Council’s Ferry Task Force.
Presentation will cover: 1. Review of finances of the last year, presentation of current finances. 2. Public Works recommendations for 2012 (incl. no raise in ferry fares, and a cut in service similar to Ferry Task Force recommendations). 3. Overview response to Ferry Task Force findings and recommendations (i.e., not line-by-line response bec of time constraints).
Finally, he said that he has not concluded his report and recommendations and must report them to the County Exec and others before the public presentation. He said ferry finances are in better shape than any time since he’s been here, and the $3 surcharge had a positive effect. And, he said that in his 30-plus years of experience, this task force’s work was the best of its kind that he’s seen.
